Download from NoizCast!

On this downloads page we have information on several different things:

NoizCast Server

NoizCast Server NLM [NoizCast v2.00 (21KB! )]

On NetWare, a low-level server process is created as a NetWare Loadable Module, or NLM.  These things run extremely fast if they are well written, and are basically event-driven multi-threaded processes.  These aren't your "high-overhead, preemptive, protected mode, heavy GUI applications" but are made to be very efficient I/O processes ... writing an NLM is not for those people used to writing high-level applications, but more for the person who wants to get into kernel-level extensions.  NLMs can be written in C or C++ and more can be found on Novell's developer web site. Oh yeah ... and NLMs are really small!  Note the size below ...

Once you have downloaded the NLM:

RadioActive Monitor!

RadioActive Monitor - Beta 1 [RadioActive v0.45 (3.3MB )]

The more we started to use the world famous SHOUTcast MP3 server, the more we wanted to know what was going on inside of it ... or more specifically - "How many listeners do we have?"  And so we sat down and wrote RadioActive Monitor!  This is a basic Windows application which will connect to the SHOUTcast admin port and provide a variety of statistics and information - and graphs - of your listeners.  It will work remotely over the Internet, and can be left up and running to see when, and how many, people are listening ...

Please be patient, this is the first cut and we will add more features and functions as it grows!

Once you have downloaded the ZIP:

NetWare 5

You can get a free copy of Novell's NetWare 5 operating system:
Novell NetWare 5 demo version here!
Think about NetWare like a high-performance Cisco router, that runs on a standard PC and can be easily written to!  It has a high-performance protocol engine, file system, and scalable Internet directory.  NetWare 5 has a long list of features.  Besides the ones just listed it has a web server, multi-protocol router, dial-up PPP routing with Network Address Translation (NAT or IP Masquerading), a support for a wide range of WAN, LAN, and Disk adapters.  It also has full web scripting capabilities (NetBasic, Novell Script, Novell Script Pages, PERL, etc.) plus a full Java Virtual Machine.  There are a lot of development tools, APIs, and Libraries on Novell's developer web site!

WinAMP - the streaming source and client!

To use the NoizCast server, there are two key components:  Streaming Source and Streaming Clients.  For both of these we recommend that you go get a copy of WinAMP.  WinAMP includes some plug-ins that allow you to stream to a SHOUTcast or NoizCast server, and also to listen to MP3 streams coming from a SHOUTcast or NoizCast server.

WinAMP [This is their home page]

  • You will use WinAMP to listen to audio coming from NoizCast servers, and also to become a stream source and stream your Noiz to your NoizCast server.
  • SHOUTcast DSP Plug-in for Winamp [Get it here!]
  • The SHOUTcast DSP Plug-in is installed in the Winamp Plug-ins folder,

  • and is used to send the audio, being played in Winamp, to a SHOUTcast
or NoizCast server.  This is what allows you to be a Stream Source.
