What exactly is NoizCast?

NoizCast is an experimental service for MP3 streaming on the Internet from Novell's NetWare 5 operating system.  For more information about MP3, please visit InsideMP3 or MP3.com ... both of these sites are dedicated to information about MP3.

The folks at NullSoft created quite a stir in the Internet with the introduction of their WinAMP MP3 player.  They further added to the capabilities when they created SHOUTcast, a server that provides a way to stream MP3s on the Internet.  The original SHOUTcast servers are available for quite a few platforms ... numerous UNIX and Windows ... but not for Novell NetWare 5.  NetWare is a high-performance protocol engine, and ideally suited to these types of services, and so we decided that we needed to write a server for NetWare 5 ... and so there is now NoizCast!

To run the NoizCast server, you'll have to have a copy of NetWare running somewhere (you can get a 3 user version of NetWare 5 for free here ... or from your local Novell Systems Engineer!) and then download the NoizCast server from here!

Stay tuned for updates and new information!
